THEME FOR MARCH:
MENTAL HEALTH AND SPIRITUALITY
"God is the lifter of my head"
The theme of this month is Mental Health spirituality. Often faith and/or spirituality have been seen as at odds with one another. Or at least they are disconnected phenomena. However, faith and spirituality are essential to healing and wholeness. Mind, body and spirit harmony is the essence of sanity and good health. During the Black history Month St. Andrew will be exploring the ways in which the scriptures support and enhance our struggle to be whole and healthy human beings
During the pandemic and the upheavals in our country we are especially in need of finding resources, both spiritually and physically, to support families and individual people. Anxiety, depression, fear , etc. are not symptoms of weakness or a lack of faith. They are a part of the story of both our strength and our challenge. Also, mental health professionals and medical professionals have been endowed by their training, hard work and dedication to be essential partners in the ministry of healing.
Finally, we will specifically look to the stories and witness of women in scripture and society. Their arms are often the ones holding others while they themselves are not given the respect or the resources to take care of themselves. In the words, songs and study at St. Andrew will lift up women’s strength and be informed by their wisdom and faith in leading us in the conversation concerning Mental Health and spirituality!
